Aqualyx is a new product, developed for the reduction in stubborn areas of fat. It is NOT a weight-loss product, but rather, a treatment for what remains after weight has been lost from other methods OR reduction in small pockets of fat which have just ‘always’ been there. Michelangelo said of his sculpture “David”:
“The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.”
And that’s exactly what Dr Aicken says before he starts treating you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the cost?
A: £250 for one area – £200/area for 2 areas. Areas include double chin, back of arms, upper back, lower back, abdomen, inner thighs, outer thighs, knees. More than 2 stubborn areas? Maybe you should consider instead, our skinny jabs.
Q: Clinic dates?
A: See here
Q: What areas can be treated with Aqualyx?
A: Any area of stubborn fat that does not shift with generalised weight loss efforts. Examples include- double chin, backs of arms, abdomen, flanks, upper back (bra straps area), love handles, inner thighs, outer thighs, buttocks, knees.
Q: What is the treatment protocol with Aqualyx?
A: Patients do typically see results after just one treatment. The smaller the area, the quicker and more significant the results typically. For example, a small double chin will respond to less treatment than a large abdomen. Aqualyx comes in 8ml vials and the prices above are based on a body part receiving ‘1 vial each side’. It is possible to treat with 2 vials each side and for that the cost will be £450 instead of £350. Treatment can be repeated every 4-6 weeks up to 8 times.
Q: Is there a downtime?
A: Yes. Here’s what you should expect. We’ll apply anaesthetic cream to your skin beforehand, so the injection process is not typically painful (according to our first 30 patients who were surveyed). After approximately 30 minutes, you’ll experience a warmth in the area, similar to sunburn. This subsides after 3-4 hours. At this point, the product has dissolved all of the fat that it has come into contact with and is now inactive. The next step is that your body has to ‘clear up’ all of the broken down fat cells and resulting fluid that arises there as a result of the inflammation. This takes approximately 2 weeks and can be sped up with techniques that improve lymphatic drainage, such as massage and the
wearing of tight clothes like spanks and stockings (depending on the area treated). After 2 weeks, you will start to notice the area shrinking and this should continue until 4 weeks post treatment. At this point you can decide whether or not you wish to repeat the cycle and dissolve away some more fat from that area.
Q: Can you just dip me in it?
A: Unfortunately this isn’t a weight loss treatment, so it’s only for stubborn areas of fat. So, if you feel like you have more than two stubborn areas of fat, it may make more sense to try a more generalised method of fat-reduction such as the boring old exercise and diet. BUT we’ll soon (hopefully) have another treatment which actually will reduce appetite, leading to rapid overall weight loss. We’re going to have to take more precautions with it, so we’ll get back to you when we have it right.
